Black-capped Kingfisher seen after 25 years in Koshi Tappu Wildlife Resurve Nepal

    A team of Sanjeeb Acharya, president of the Koshi Bird Society and Ornithologist at the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Resurve , Nepal's first Ramsar site, has recorded a black-capped kingfisher for the second time since 1995 (Baral and Chaudhary 2005). The number of birds in this famous bird reserve is 526.

    According to the Red Book on Endangered Birds of Nepal, recorded for the first time in Nepal in the 19th century (Fleming, 1975 and Gurung, 1980). This species grows 5 km outside the reserve. It was found in the Ramdhuni forest of Sunsari in the eastern region in 1998 (Chaudhary, 1999).

    Archives after 1990 include Khaptad National Park in the west (1995), Giri and Chaudhary, 1996, Bardia National Park in 2001 (Inskip 2001), Chitwan National Park in 2006 (Baral and Upadhyay 2006), Bisahjari Lake in 1992 (Brew, 1992), Elephant Breeding Centers were established in 2004 (Base), Janakauli Community Forest in 2005 (Chaudhary, 2005), Tikauli in 2013 (Bidari, 2013), Dhungri Khola in 2016 (Base, 2016) and Gaidaghat in 2018 (Bidari and Mahato).
